I don't post very often, mostly because I'm too busy, but some recent troubles that a very qualified friend has run into recently trying to adopt a very large dog from a shelter hit a nerve with me. I'm a vet assistant, volunteered in shelters for years, and have lived "out in the country" for over 25 years, dealing with lots of abandoned animals ( Read more... )

Having been the owner of a large dog (G Shepherd) that I had to take to the vet and have put down because of aggression I feel I can honestly say it was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. We had that dog five years and he was part of the family. It came down to a choice between my children's safety and the dog. No debate ( ... )

Please Niniae, tell us how you feel.

I so agree with you. Like Estela and Sileas said it is a huge responsability to owne a dog let alone a large one.

By the way the puppies a looking good. and Belle is a great mother to them.
