I must be crazy

I signed up for a Castle-themed Big Bang Alt over at Castleland. I'm signed up to do:
  • 4 long fics (2000+ words)
  • 2 ficlets (500-1000 words)
  • 1 long drabble (151-499 words)
  • 1 picspam (25 images)
  • 1 fanvid (at least 3 minutes long)

The hard part about fanvidding is figuring out what bits of canon to use. Castle still has a lot less source material than some shows, but even so, its long and not terribly interesting to go through, harvesting scenes to use.

Once you've got a lot of stuff imported in iMovie and you're just messing around with setting it to music, then you're on the easy part. Well, maybe not easy, but it's more interesting and more fun, so it doesn't feel like work.

But I haven't even started any of my Big Bang Alt work, so...UM. OOPS. *scurries off*

I'm figuring I'll watch a bunch of eps in fast-forward, take notes on timestamps of good clips to use, and then import and work from there. Most likely I should research vidding so I don't make rookie mistakes like being too literal or having weird pacing.

That's probably a more fun way of doing it, I just don't usually have the time/patience to rewatch a bunch of episodes, even in fast forward. Still, it's not due til, what July? So you're probably good.

Biggest mistake I would look out for is stray frames - sometimes you don't cut the frame quite as close as you thought you did, so when you play it you get a split second of WRONG SHOT, and it's distracting. Have fun with the research!

Oooh, good luck! I should probably do my big bang alt…
If you need help with GIMP, just ask; I've been using it for maybe half a year now, and I think I know most things about it.

If you need some help with iMovie, I'll help if I can. I've made three vids (in other fandoms) since I switched back to a Mac.
