I has a game. The game is Beat Hazard. It is shmup powered by MP3s.

Tunak Tunak Tun is hard.
Don't Fear the Reaper is hard.
Through the Fire and Flames is harder.
Ode to Joy makes them all look like a cake walk.

Well played, Mister Beethoven. Well played.

Oh my, you thought one of the crowning achievements of classical music would be easy in an MP3-based shmup? How amusing.

I've given occasional thought to snagging Beat Hazard, but given that it's a shoot-em-up, I've been ... wary. My wariness may be well-founded. I guess more important than "how hard is it?" is "how fun is it, even when you're losing?"

It is quite a lot of fun, as long as you are okay with occasional epileptic seizures. There is no epilepsy warning big enough for the game, but if you have a dual analog gamepad, you will find the basic gameplay similar to geometry wars.
