Haha. My first thought was Shippuden Kiba, but seeing as you'd disagree with that, I'll go with Suigetsu. He just seems to fit what qualities you look for in a friend. He certainly is callous, hardworking, mature, smart, and individualistic. And even though he doesn't show how fond he is of his teammates, he certainly does because he risks his life to save them-- which shows that he would be good "bff" material.
