3. General Personality Questions
Strengths: My passion, creativity, idealism, intelligence, loyalty, being contemplative and thoughtful, and I'm rather secure in my own viewpoints and oddities.
Weaknesses:I can be stubborn/too opinionated, very moody, insecure, indecisive, envious, unable to let go of the past, nervous, paranoid of others, and I have a hard time letting people in-and the select few I do allow in, I can be clingy to.
Mature or Immature?:I'm a mix of both. I'm mature because I think I’m somewhat more self aware than others my age. I’d like to think so, anyway. But I'm immature in that sometimes I don't know how to handle my emotions properly. If I had to pick, I'd say mature.
Leader or Follower?:Again, this is tricky, but I’ll say leader, notsomuch in the cliché sense of being a people person but through having a unique perspective and by not going along with what others believe/want if it goes against my values. I'm a leader as in I’m an independent thinker, I suppose, more than being a leader for organizing people and delegating orders.
Optimistic or Pessimistic?:Although I’m hard on myself, I’ll say optimistic, because I believe in humanity’s potential, and I believe in the possibility of change. I’ve been trying to focus on the positive lately, because ruminating on the negative doesn't help me at all.
Impulsive or Cautious?: Cautious. I worry about making a fool of myself in front of others, and I’d rather think things through first.
Outgoing or Shy?:Shy. I’m okay once the conversation starts going, but I don’t like to be the first one approaching others.
Music Talk
Which genres of music do you tend to prefer?: All kinds, really. I listen to some weirder, crazy stuff (some would call it indie, I guess, but everyone labels music differently), some more mellow alternative things, rock, even pop. It just depends on a lot of things, how the music is executed overall. I’m not much of an elitist, and I have no desire to be.
What kind of vocals do you tend to like in your songs?: I like emotional voices; I love to hear a song where you can tell the artist is really feeling it, not just singing a string of notes. I like a certain degree of rawness, so long as the singer isn’t off key.
Do you like faster songs, or ones that are more ballad-like for the most part?: Usually I prefer faster songs over slower ones.
Imagine having your very own soundtrack. What five songs that you're familiar with could you see being on the track list (please don't include any Naruto songs in this list!)? Feel free to add lyric snippets or reasoning behind WHY you'd list the following songs if you want to:
1. “In This Home on Ice,” Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Shake you rattle-snake skin
And become a part of society
Wait on down the highway
To see how far I'll come a-run a-run run running
All that we had salvaged from the fire
Was a waste of time
(But) what a waste of time
It’s beautiful in a quiet, odd sort of way. Vocals sound kind of…they’re hard to describe. Quirky. But it produces a kind of awe-ing effect, at least on me?
2. “Walk Away,” Franz Ferdinand
And I am cold, yes, I'm cold
But not as cold as you are
I love the sound of you walking away, you walking away
I love the sound of you walking away, walking away, hey hey
Slowish, but not ballad-y. It works because I often have trouble letting go of the past but I’m working on it.
3. “Australia,” The Shins
Dare to be one of us girl,
Facing the android’s conundrum
I feel like I should just cry
But nothing happens every time I take one on the chin,
Yeah, Himmler in your coat
You don’t know how long I’ve been
Watching the lantern dim,
Starved for oxygen,
So give me your hand
And let’s jump out the window
A more upbeat song, kind of uplifting. Basically about how the only person that can change your life or make the most out of it is you. Break free, etc etc.
4.”Thirty Whacks,” Dresden Dolls
Thirty day guarantee
But they can’t have meant me,
After all, I was born to a childproof world;
No sharp corners or glass,
Small objects, or plastic bags,
Please, these are death to a delicate girl
A slow, melancholy song that is a bit…creepy.
5. “Rolling star,” YUI
A world like I have seen in my dreams
Without conflict, just daily peace
But in reality, I tend to worry about
Troubles and the daily grind
Those Rolling Days
Because I’m a sucker for pop. Fast, almost frantic but not quite. And it kind of shows the protective side of me, in a sense.
List five of your favorite musical artists:
1. Dresden Dolls
2. Cursive
3. Modest Mouse
4. Vanessa Carlton
5. Yuki Kajiura
What's your favorite theme song from Naruto thus far (please note: the answer to this question isn’t an indication of what YOUR theme song from Naruto would be but has more to do with your musical preferences)?: Either “Haruka Kanata” or “Hero’s Come Back!” I like the energy in the former, and I’m drawn to the darker edge in the second.
And your least favorite?: “No Boy, No Cry.” It kind of just makes me…cringe.
Does your music preferences change depending on your mood? And if so, how?: Yeah, it does a lot. I listen to more mellow stuff when I’m in a calmer mood, harder stuff when I’m full of energy, etc etc.
Do lyrics necessarily have to make a lot of sense, or is that not as important so long as a song has an amazing beat?: As a writer, lyrics do mean a lot to me, so it’s giant plus if they’re clever or original. I don’t mind some more nonsensicial lyrics as long as they kind of contribute to the atmosphere the music is setting up.
If you were in a band...what instrument or role would you like to play in it?: DRUMS. I’ve been wanting to learn them since I was a kid. I suppose it’s weird I’d play something so steady considering how emotional I am, but I guess I like their energy. If I could sing, though, I’d love to do that, but I’d be awful at it.
Anything else?: Nah, think I’m good =) Thanks for voting!
