Much-needed ramblings

Time is such an interesting concept. Everyone lives their lives by it, even religiously in some aspects. But why do we allow ourselves to become slave to a measurement? Actually, why do we allow ourselves to become slave to any measurement, whether it be time, weight, height, or calorie intake? Why do we focus so much on numbers instead of what we' ( Read more... )

I believe the "concept" of Time has always existed. Think, I am sure that the earliest humans still lived by the position of the heavenly bodies. They most likely hunted and ate and such during the day and slept during the night. I do not believe that there ever was a time when humans just lived their day, unconcerned about the positions of the cosmos. It just began being recorded when the first people began doing certain activities at certain times of day. I think people are a slave to measurements because they measure the norm. I have not noticed people being obsessed with height as much as weight or caloric intake, which is probably because you cannot really do much about your height while you can about your weight. Weight and caloric intake is obsessed over because of media influence, as everyone wants to be perfect and whatnot ( ... )

the question is, were they aware of their use of time. Contiousness is what makes time "exsist".

The primary difference between time and breathing is that breathing is necessary for survival. Time is only neccessay for interaction with other humans in an overly complex society. And to say that time is not opressive is to say that waking up because of an obnoxious alarm is "pleasent" or "not that bad".

It is a good point though, that time can be considered as essential as breathing. Not that is it, that it is thought as such. A the things we trap ourselves with.

Go camping. Time does not matter. At all. When you are hungry, you eat, when your bored, you play, and when something needs to be done you do it. And don't plan a return time either. Just go. And don't come back till you don't know what day it is, or how many days you've been there.

I don't think Time is only necessary just for the successful interaction between humans in our lovely complex society. Time has a large impact on our actual lives. After all, everyone is only given a certain amount of time, that changes depending on life style choices etc, before they kick the bucket and go to wherever they want to go to. In that sense, I believe that Time is very necessary for the survival of anything. Without it, you'd either not exist at all or be immmortal. Of course thats not the case, so we get to live in a pleasant state of mortality, living out our lives however we choose, then dying when our time is up ( ... )

Well, I think they were aware of their use of time, just that they may not have called it "time" They may not even have given it a name, but I am sure that they knew something like it existed and they lived heavily by it.

Also, I do not believe that conscienceness is required for something to "exist" I think that statement falls along the lines of the whole," If a tree falls in the woods and no one around is there to hear it, does it make a sound?" I mean, obviously it does. I would hope humans are not so arrogant as to believe that if we have not discovered it, or monitor it or what have you that it does not exist. I don't think thats a very efficient, not to mention opened-minded, way to thinking don't you?

"I will always care more about why someone did something as opposed to when they did it."

animal cells are made of a number of things, cholestorol, proteins, a few vitamins, fiber, and fat for the outer membrane. The innards are a lot of water, some carbon, and trace bits of phosphorus, acids and a few other free molecules. Plants have a cell wall, made of yet more fiber (like wood, its a carbon stand I beleve, but its to tightly constucted to be digested. I may be wrong about the carbon thing) a bit more water is vacuoles. But thats pritty much it. Mostly water, and gell like goo that is the rest of the stuff. If you wanna get specific about the structure, I can send you a link ( ... )
