...seems everytime I ask a question a couple dozen people bonk me on the head with scripture. I've got a very basic question here and I'd just like to have an answer from you

Jesus loves all of us equally and wouldnt have loved one woman more than other women
while not the first to run this by me, a valid point I'm sure, one would think he loved his mother more than any other woman and if that's the case it leaves room for the possibility that he may've sought similar in a bride. Although, you don't necessarily have to love your wife more than any other women...just choose to put her in a different class than the rest.
actually, i dont think Jesus would have loved his mother more than other women. i think he would have loved all the same, but since His love is abundant, it isnt a bad thing.
"Although, you don't necessarily have to love your wife more than any other women...just choose to put her in a different class than the rest."
even so, i dont believe Jesus would have tried to seek for a wife. it wasnt a part of his agenda or any goal.
Well, I don't it wrong because the Bible doesn't just have no comment, it specifically says he -didn't- have children. So if you say he did, well, you're putting yourself above the Bible.. that's why I don't like it when people say he did =P Anyway, aside from that

I think people tend to forgetthe Bible was written by people, normal humans as flawed as the rest of us willing to put their own opinions above truth and alter things as they saw fit in oder to better promote the ideal they were going for. Such as a Messiah that had children...which would be bad because apparently they felt that would take away from him somehow

Well, you make a lot of absolute statements there, with no backup. I doubt very much that most scholars would agree the Bible is greatly changed from the original, it's the opposite, as the Dead Sea Scrolls suggest. Also, the Bible says it's more than just a book written by human people, but is inspired by the Spirit of God, as it says it is. As for whether Jesus is God, the Bible says he is. I guess your problem is that you don't trust the Bible (for some reason). Not much point discussing who Jesus is if you don't trust the only document written about him =P Where else are you going to get your information from? Your own ideas about who you think he would have been and what you think is nice or "makes sense", despite the fact God's ways and thoughts are "higher" than yours, as he says they are? There is no doubt that God is a family man, but he has millions of children. As for other religions, the few that do involve actual offspring were people like Zeus who went around raping any goddess he took a liking to. Of course, I suppose

The "special treatment" Jesus required was that we trust in him, just as we trust in the Father (God), and love him above all other people, including our parents and our own lives.
John 14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me."
Matthew 10:37-38 "Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; (38) and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me."
Mark 8:34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me."
You can't get much more special than being the absolute number one in someones life =P
