This happened to a friend of mine up in Salem, too. Sounds like there is hacking afoot.

Cripes, you're now the THIRD person I know including myself who's been hacked on WoW. And all since the switch to Battlenet logins...TOTAL SUCK.

"Exploitative Activity: Unauthorized Cheat Programs" - are there authorized cheat programs?

But seriously, hacking has been around for ages. My Boss used to play, and got hacked back in 2007. This has been going on for a while... basically, the hacker can sell your stuff, get gold, and sell it off for real money in no time. Some Guilds are now requiring you to have an Authenticator to be a member, because if you get hacked, the hacker can raid the Guild Bank and sell it all off.

When playing a game requires an encryption key to log in, it's no longer a game. A real-world business thrives on this MMO, and it's not (just) the MMO itself.

Yup - the most ironic thing was I started playing WoW in 2005. I stopped last Sept.

During that time, account was never touched by anyone other than me, tho I'd heard horror stories from other people. I was inactive for a few months, and the acct is hacked (I wonder how they got around paying for it... that might be the unauthorized cheat stuff).
