I'm hoping that the upcoming storms aren't as bad as they are expecting them to be. Down here in Maryland, they are one step shy of actually boarding up the windows for protection.
But, either way, I offer a couple of prayers to those that will be out there, regardless of weather, so that the rest of us can all rest safely.
A Fireman’s Prayer
When I am called to duty, wherever flames may rage.
Give me strength to save some life whatever be it's age.
Help me to embrace a child before it is too late,
or save an older person from the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me.
To guard my every neighbor and protect his property.
And if according to my fate, I am to lose my life,
Please bless with your protecting hand my children and wife.
An EMT Prayer
Grant me the ability to give Emergency care
With skillful hands, knowledgeable mind And tender love and care.
Help me deal with everything, When lives are on the line
To see the worst, administer aid, and Ease a worried mind.
So help me as I go today Accept what fate may be
Touch these hands, use this mind, Help this EMT.
A Police Officer’s Prayer
I ask for courage
Courage to face and Conquer my own fears.
Courage to take me Where others will not go.
I ask for strength
Strength of body to protect others
And strength of spirit to lead others.
I ask for dedication
Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe.
Give me concern
For others who trust me
And compassion for those who need me.
