I didn't realize that's the aunt who's funeral you were attending. In the context of what you wrote above I can say I owe her a debt of gratitude myself for helping get you to NHS and bringing us together.
The good thing about typical teenagers is that we were typical. Adults know how they are and a lot of things can be felt without actually having to be said. Just being there and sharing her stories probably meant a lot to her.
I didn't think about that at all Rusty. I'm sure she felt that I was interested in all of her stories she told that she knew I Was grateful. I'm glad you pointed that out to me. That does make me feel a lot better about it.
*hugs* It's good that you remember such wonderful things about her. And I second what Rusty said. You bonding with her and listening to her stories says a lot more than you'd think. Besides, I don't want to sound hokey, but I don't think it's too late to tell her what she meant to you. People leave this world, but I don't believe that they are really gone.
I really think you honor her memory by living well, by accomplishing all you have, and by being there for those who will come behind you. Acknowledging the nature of what brought you to this point in life, I'm grateful nevertheless that something truly good came out of it, and I also thank her for that.
