I just finished the second chapter and I'm not sure I can explain how gratified I am in reading something long and juicy and complicated and it's Shun/Uki! I already loved them and I love Westerns so this is like peanut butter and chocolate to me, mmm. I'm appreciating the details as they come and I'm really loving the slow unfurl, if you know what I mean. Some really lovely (and loving) details. XOXO

OK, on to the next part now. :D

Haha, I'm sure if Rae were here she'd have agreed heartily--there's a serious lack of long ShunUki fic! We're very glad to have (slightly) amended that :D

dsghdf I'm actually really relieved to hear that a person who likes Westerns approves of this fic, as I can't remember the last Western film I've seen, yet I've written this anyway.

I have to say that I really liked the way this chapter starts, with the two of them meeting. I like the way that Shunsui was first drawn to speak to Ukitake by his looks, and then the surprises…first that he wasn’t a she as expected, and then due to the layers of interest each of them kept finding in one another.

The visit to the sheriff’s office was lovely, and I keep wondering who’s going to show up in a cameo next. :D Starrk as the sheriff was beautiful, and I really liked how Ukitake and Shunsui know each other so well that each just seems to understand what the other is thinking. Another interesting chapter…looking forward to the next (whenever I can get there...)!
