OMIGOD, YOU GUYS!

They took my website away!!!

Well, okay, no. Work did not take my website away...they just blocked access to it. Naturally, they block certain webpages, YouTube, MySpace, FaceBook, email sites, etc., as one might expect (fortunately, LJ seems to have been overlooked...I worry that if I start hanging out here at work, it'll get ( Read more... )

I know, I sound like a whiny brat, don't I?

But HONESTLY, it does not affect my productivity! The instant the phone beeps in my ear, I'm clicking back to my Store Operations window, ready to check a UPC for someone, whatever they need! Hell, my productivity's gonna suffer NOW, because I'll be alternating between bored and pissed, gah!

You don't sound like that dude. It's all good. It's just that you're used to doing things a certain way. I went to work and we got brand new flat screen monitors at the registers..and scanners in the aisles.

*hugs*

:-( If your LJ access is still okay, I've often used Private entries as a way of working on WIPs - it's handy to edit entries, or just to add stuff in comments.

Or, there's (I think it's called) Google docs, which I've seen a couple of people use when I've beta'd for them. Surely no sane workplace would ever block a Google site!

Ooooo, Google docs, I've seen that mentioned!

The problem is, I'm not sure I can log on to LJ at work (I made this post and have done comments by typing in my userID & password, but that's just verification, processed by LJ's server[s].) I'm nervous about attempting to do so, because LJ would want to log a cookie to that effect, and that kind of evidence trail, I don't need. I didn't think they were actually tracking sites, since the same warning message pops up if you, say, misspell "Google" with three o's or whatever, but apparently Something Somewhere decided Envy.nu had been hit too many times and blocked it, bah. So I fear causing the same result with LJ.

I wonder if Google docs require a log in? But hey, you're right, even if they DO, no sane (or even wacky as corporate America can be...) workplace could block Google, right? *iz hopeful*

Good Advice, thanks, Pen!

I was coming in to mention Google Docs as well, they do require a log in but I mean, it's Google. They wouldn't block Google. Right?

Yaaaay, Google.

Google Docs works just fine, they do NOT block it, hurrah! It's slow for a big file, but I can work on my stories at work in small sections and paste them together in Envy when I get home.

Thanks!

My work blocks *everything* for work hours besides lunch and I can get to Google docs. :) I paste fic in there to read. Give it a shot, it's nice and easy.
