[One-Shot] As the sun rises

Summary: When Aiba is with Ohno, it's a comforting silence.

“Ouch…” Aiba lightly says when he felt a hit on his head.
He forces his eyes open and rubs the spot on his head. As he slowly takes in his surroundings, he realizes he’s not home and abruptly sits up only to have hit Jun’s head.
Jun mumbles something in his sleep and Aiba silently apologizes. Aiba slowly begins to remember about the night before when all five of them gathered in Ohno’s room as usual on every concert tour.
They ended up talking about toothpaste and clearly drunk. Aiba doesn’t recall much of the conversation after that but he’s sure that none of them went back to their respective rooms.
Aiba slowly stands up, careful not to hit Nino’s arms and Sho’s legs because somehow they’ve fallen asleep with limbs everywhere.
He continues rubbing his head while making himself a cup of tea. It’s still quite dark and Aiba’s not bothered to check the time. It’ll be morning when Sho-chan’s two alarm clocks ring, Aiba tells himself.
Aiba scans the room and makes out a person sitting in the balcony. Aiba takes his tea and moves over.
“Leader?” Aiba says as he realizes it’s Ohno.
Ohno’s eyes slowly open and he smiles at Aiba.
“Sorry, did I disturb your sleep?” Aiba asks as he settles the teacup on the table.
Ohno shakes his head and Aiba sits in the chair next to Ohno.
“Can’t sleep?” Ohno asks.
“I just woke up early. What about you?”
Ohno closes his eyes for a moment and Aiba sees him take a deep breath. “It feels nice here.”
Aiba silently agrees when he feels the breeze .Aiba slumps into his chair and suddenly feels all the piled up exhaustion on his shoulders. They’re going to be working their asses off at rehearsals like usual a few hours later when the sun’s up, so he might as well relax right now.
After all, he gets these kinds of times not really often.
But Aiba doesn’t mind that he barely has two to three hours to sleep each day because he wants to do this. He wants to work as hard as he can if he can make others smile.
Aiba’s loved seeing happy faces since as long as he can remember and he wants to be someone that’s the cause of someone’s laughter. And if people can laugh with him or even laugh at him, Aiba would do whatever it takes because he’s Aiba.
Aiba glances to his side and can’t help smiling at the sight of Ohno. Aiba likes being with Ohno. He likes the comforting silence that’s always there when it’s just the two of them.
Aiba’s admired Ohno since the first time they met.
Aiba had entered Johnny’s the last among the other four and somewhere in the corner of his heart, he felt that he could never fit in. though amidst the uncertainties, he went along with the recording of A-Ra-Shi. Aiba could see that the others were just as nervous and afraid as him. The oldest boy among them, Ohno Satoshi, Aiba thought he looked more afraid than nervous.
But when Aiba heard Ohno sing, Aiba’s immediately mesmerized and his mind screened out every single thing except Ohno’s angelic voice. I’m in a group with this amazing guy, is the only thing that was playing in his head the whole time.
Aiba doesn’t know how it happened but he thinks he received courage from Ohno’s singing and his edginess turns to excitement. At that time, he started to wonder how Arashi would turn out, how the future of the other four members would be, how would people react when they see him and Aiba wondered if one day, he can shine like Ohno.
“Rain…” Aiba can hear Ohno’s voice gently interrupt his thoughts and Aiba grins at Ohno. Ohno smiles back and that makes Aiba happy.
It’s always been like that between them. Ohno makes Aiba happy by being who he is and Aiba makes Ohno happy by being Aiba.
They may be two completely different people who might never get along but they’re glad that each of them has something the other doesn’t.
Ohno creates an image Aiba can always work for and Ohno’s that calming person Aiba can go to whenever something bad happens. Aiba doesn’t know why but when Ohno tells him ‘it’s okay’, everything would feel better even if Ohno doesn’t know what happened.
Ohno likes Aiba being there. He’s glad that Aiba’s there to fill in for him because Ohno’s never been much of a person who speaks much. Ohno loves listening to Aiba’s voice and Aiba’s laugh. Aiba’s there to fill in Ohno’s gap and Ohno gets enthusiasm from Aiba’s bright personality.
Then again, they do have a huge similarity that’s probably got them this far.
Aiba and Ohno love Arashi.
They’re both sure that’s all they need.
Ohno’s hand fits nicely over Aiba’s. Ohno squeezes it and there’s a huge grin plastered across their faces as they look at the rain clear and the sun rise.
