Summary: Ohno wakes up one day and starts to paint.

Creating art had always been natural for Ohno. While others found it near impossible to do so - a good example would be Sho (No matter how strongly he insists that his drawings are ‘original’) - it ran in Ohno’s blood. Ohno had never faced difficulties especially when it came to arts - dancing, singing or drawing.

He is the owner to an amazingly beautiful voice and a body which could make unbelievably swift dance moves so simple.
Though, those were all in the past. Ohno had been the best performer during his high school days convincing every single student that he would grow up to be an artiste.

But now, Ohno was 28 and he had left all the performing behind him. However, working as a mangaka had given him the chance to hold on to his drawing skulls, despite the rare use of colors. His manager was Sho and he was a fine young man - whose looks and manners really came in handy when he apologizes for the mangaka when he misses the deadline again.

Ohno had always longed to use colors again but his work had limited him to only the use of black and white. Tired about that, one day, Ohno wakes up from a dream and feels something strongly urging him to paint. He gets his paintbrushes and sets up a canvas. Slowly, he closed his eyes and let all the emotions of his dream wash over him. Then, he started to paint.

Ohno had thought that he had probably lost his touch with colors but this was simply amazing. What stared back at him was a boy who looked no more than 17 and had an obvious mole on his chin. The boy had pretty neat black hair if compared to Ohno’s spiky ones and his thin lips smiled serenely at Ohno from the canvas. Completely mesmerized, Ohno ran his long and slender fingers across the perfect features of the boy’s face and felt a rush of excitement. Simply beautiful, Ohno thought.

Ohno had been glad when Sho had told him about his manga being adopted into an anime but what made him wonder was his arranged meeting with the songwriter of the anime’s opening and ending themes. He had never did such a thing, neither did he think a day he would meet with a songwriter would come.

Apparently, this meeting was for Ohno to help write lyrics to the song. Ohno had a huge feeling he would be more of a burden than any help, but Sho called him to go anyway.

His name was Ninomiya Kazunari and Ohno was frozen when he saw him. Those eyes, that nose, those thin lips, that mole… Ohno knew that there was no mistake that the boy standing right there, right now, was the boy he had painted the other day. Ohno never did realize he was completely staring at Nino.

“Ohno-san?” a voice had called which broke Ohno out of his trance. He backed a few steps when he realized Nino’s face only inches away from his. As a result, he tripped on a chair and ended up sprawled across the floor.

Nino had chuckled loud enough for Ohno to hear and he couldn’t help but smile a little himself. “You’re like an old, clumsy man!” Nino had held his hand out and Ohno had grabbed those short, round fingers and immediately stood up.

Nino was still grinning and Ohno realized that he was much more beautiful than the painting. “I’m Ninomiya Kazunari. Just ‘Nino’ is fine.”
Nino shook Ohno’s hand rather enthusiastically. Ohno managed to mumble a silent ‘Ohno’ and it seemed Nino got the message.

Working with Nino had been really fun, Ohno thought. Although Nino had mentioned countless of times how Ohno resembled an old man,
Ohno didn’t seem to mind one bit. He even quite like the sharp comments Nino gave. They had completed the song in a few hours with the help of Nino’s amazing skills. Ohno wished he could delay it more so as to spend more time with Nino.

As Ohno dejectedly left the studio, realizing that this would be the first and last time he and Nino would meet, he almost jumped in delight when Nino had asked him if he would like to have lunch together the next day. Ohno instantly said yes. He spent the rest of the day with a smile plastered on his face.

Ohno went back to his apartment and stared at the piece of art. So his name's Nino… Maybe it was because of this picture, Ohno thinks, he had a strong feeling he and Nino would get along real well.

The next day, Ohno expected to see Nino alone, waiting for him at that restaurant, but that was obviously not happening. Nino was seated next to another man taller than him and from behind, Ohno thought he had really silky hair. Something which the taller man sad had made Nino smack his head and Ohno heard a breathy laugh coming from their table. He made his way towards the pair.

“Ohno!” Nino had exclaimed when he saw the mangaka. “Take a seat!” Ohno dumbly nodded as he felt his stomach flip at Nino’s smile. He’s not sure if it’s just him or Nino looks really delighted to see him.

“So you’re Ohno-san!” the taller man had remarked rather loudly. “Nino was talking all about you yesterday,” he grinned. “I’m Aiba Masaki. It’s nice to meet you!”

“He’s an idiot so you don’t have to pay any attention to a word he says,” Nino smirked.

“Hey! It’s fine if you keep that to yourself! You know, Ohno-san is seeing for the first time and I don’t want to give him a bad-“

“Shut up!” Nino had cut Aiba off and Aiba giggled as he ducked from one of Nino’s smacks.

Ohno was actually glad that Aiba was there. He had imagined meeting outside for something not related to work would be awkward but Aiba proved that wrong. Aiba was full of energy and his quirky character made the trio feel at ease.

Ohno wonders if Nino had realized that their hands had accidentally brushed against each other three times and that their knees are touching as they sit beside each other. Ohno doesn’t mind though, he feels comfortable and doesn’t increase the distance between him and Nino.

“I didn’t bring my wallet out today,” Nino whined when Aiba called him to pay.

“Are you saying that again?! I paid for the last three meals!!” Aiba exclaimed.

As they argued about who was going to treat, Ohno had stood up and went to the counter.

It had been three months since that fateful meeting and Ohno and Nino would meet almost every week at the same old restaurant. They would share stuff about their lives and simply enjoy each other’s presence. Aiba would sometimes be in that scene, not that Ohno minded of course. Ohno liked being with Nino, he feels all his worries disappear when he looks at Nino eating, whining about his job, acting like a little boy, laughing out loud at a joke Ohno didn’t intend to make or just simply smiling that smile Ohno loves most.

Ohno would come home every night and stare at the masterpiece of Nino in his art room. He would smile as he runs his thoughts about what he had learnt about Nino that evening.

When Ohno first laid eyes on this piece of art, he thought that the person staring back from the canvas would be a completely innocent young boy. Nino was the exact opposite of innocent. He was a gamer and could perform mind-blowing magic tricks. Nino loved money and he would become really stingy when it came to that beloved item of his. Aiba was always the victim to Nino’s sharp tongue as Ohno always is to his cheeky pranks.

Ohno still remembers the last prank Nino played on him. Once, Ohno had arrived a little late and quickly sat down on the chair absolutely not suspecting the look on Nino’s face. A loud fart had echoed through the restaurant and all eyes fell on Ohno. Ohno instantly felt something on his chair. He should have known.

But despite all that, Ohno grew to become really fond of Nino. No, probably it was because of that bratty side of Nino. And Ohno would be lying if he said he never noticed that Nino was also pretty fond of him, because if you count the number of times Nino’s hamburger fingers had landed on his butt, it was pretty obvious. Sometimes, Ohno wonders if Nino likes his butt more than him.

Nino would be coming over to Ohno’s apartment today. They would be watching their first work together, the anime adapted from Ohno’s most best-selling manga.

Nino had claimed Ohno’s lap as he plopped on the couch and Ohno absent-mindedly ran his fingers through Nino’s hair gently dropping on his lap.

“Oh-chan…” Nino had called out halfway through the first episode. Somewhere along the way, ‘Ohno’ had turned into ‘Oh-chan’. Ohno hummed in response.

“You should draw a picture of me…”

Ohno thought about what Nino had said. “I already did,” he said and smiled.

Nino lifted his head from Ohno’s lap and exclaimed happily. “You did?!”

There was barely any distance between their face that moment and Ohno kind of wanted to close that gap. Slowly, he leaned forward a little and stared at Nino’s smiling face. Ohno decides that maybe Nino wouldn’t like it and backed away instantly.

Then, he felt Nino’s lips lightly brush on his. Nino wrapped his arms around Ohno’s waist and the progression of the anime showing on television was completely forgotten; its ending theme perfectly fitting background music as Ohno’s lips made contact with the songwriter’s.

“Wow…” Nino sounded amazed. “You drew this?”

Ohno nodded his head in response. “On the day before I met you…”

“But.. how? You’ve never seen me before then. It would be impossible for this to be so detailed. It looks exactly like me…”

“I had a weird dream before that.”

Ohno isn’t too sure about what he saw in his dreams that day and he only has vague images of it. Although, he was pretty sure he saw music notes flowing out from a score and a splash of colors from the rainbow connecting with each other to form a rather amazing sight.
Then, he had woke up and painted Nino.

Nino too doesn’t know what to make of Ohno’s dream but there was one thing he does know; he was thankful that Ohno had had that dream.

Ohno wakes up one morning and finds Nino beside him sitting on the edge of the bed. He was holding a guitar and lazily strumming what seemed like an experimental melody. He stops when he sees Ohno and reaches over to plant a kiss on his forehead. Ohno smiles and wraps his arms around the thing waist of the younger man from behind.

“What are you composing this time?” Ohno asked obviously still very sleepy.

“I’m not too sure…” Nino mumbles in response. “There’s a melody going on inside my head but I can’t get it out on the guitar.”

“I kind of feel like painting today…” Ohno says softly. “It’s already been a year since I painted that picture of you.”

Ohno finds his paintbrushes again and this time, with Nino playing a soothing melody by his side. He starts to paint. He paints what he saw in his dreams. A string of music notes entwined with bright colors. The notes had blended in beautifully with the shades of blue and yellow. The combination looked meant to be and completely inseparable.

“What’s that?” Nino asks when Ohno’s finished.

“It’s us…” Ohno smiles.

Nino fully understands what Ohno means.
