Title: How Green Connects
Members: Ohno, Ohno/Aiba (Friendship)
Genre: Fluff
Rating: G
Disclaimer: I don't own Arashi
Summary: Ohno's life before Arashi and how Aiba changed his life.

1.

“It’s not like you would pass it anyway…” Ohno’s mother says as she sighs at the sight of her song going into his normal state of ‘nothingness’.

Ohno rarely gets stirred up things happening around him. He’s not exactly fearless or daring, it’s just because Ohno lives by his own pace and he comprehends things at his own speed. That’s why when others are surprised, Ohno’s actually taking in the situation and by the time he completely grasps its meaning, it’s really not anything anymore.

As his mother, she completely understands him. And when Ohno replies, “Fine then, you can send in the application,” a few minutes after she finishes all the procedures of the application, she doesn’t find it weird at all.

2.

“Green!” Ohno exclaims as his little finger points towards the grass. His small stature plops down on the grass and he reaches in his bag for a bright green coloured pencil.

Ohno likes the colour green. He’s always heard how the adults were talking about how white is the colour for pureness, but Ohno thinks green is the colour for good people. He takes out a white sheet of paper and paints it completely green.

When he shows his mother his piece of art, she doesn’t ask him why he painted the whole piece of paper green, instead she says, “It’s a nice colour, huh?”

Ohno beams as his mother gets on her knees to accommodate her child’s height. “What does Satoshi think of the colour green?”

Ohno seems to ponder over the question a little while before he says, “Green is like a never-ending energy! Because trees are green and grass is green, and I see them no matter where I go!!”

His mother smiles before she gets up and ruffles his hair.

“It’s a good colour too…” Ohno tells himself.

3.

Ohno has no idea what is he doing here amidst a huge number of boys dancing earnestly to the music. He doesn’t know what to do and somehow enters his state of ‘nothingness’ right there.

Ohno’s state of ‘nothingness’ isn’t literally entering a space of total emptiness like others assume. His concentration doubles and Ohno sees a vast area of things. It’s during this period that the world Ohno sees is in a variety of colours.

He lets his eyes survey the room and like always, people around him appear in that shade of dull grey. He catches sight of a calming white spot and waves at it. His mother is smiling and waving back.

That’s when a loud voice booms in his ear, “What the hell are you doing?” A man in his 30s is standing before Ohno and all the boys abruptly stop dancing to look at the commotion that’s happening.

The man starts lecturing Ohno about something - Ohno’s not exactly listening. When he finally does stop blabbering, Ohno’s wondering why he’s gesturing an arm to the front of the room.

It takes quite a while for Ohno to realize that the man’s just instructed him to go the front and dance.

Ohno looks around and he doesn’t know why are the boys still staring at him. He hates all the attention he’s getting and thinks he might as well just dance to get these eyes off him.

As he’s dancing, more attention is being directed to him and he doesn’t get it anymore.

“Oh!!” the man’s saying, sounding surprised. “You’ve got good rhythm!”

A few years was what it took for it to finally dawn upon Ohno that those were the words that got him into the agency.

4.

Along the years, Ohno realizes that he’s developed a huge love for dancing. Dancing was in ways similar to painting. The steps in dancing were like colours in a painting, giving a particular mood to that masterpiece, like giving it life. Being no good with words, dancing and painting soon becomes his helping hand.

“I wonder if we did the right thing…” Machida says as they’re on their way to the agency.

Ohno silently shrugs and gazes at the rows of trees along the road. He doesn’t know if dropping out of school was the right choice, but nobody ever decided that Ohno had to do what was ‘right’. What he does know is that he wants to further his dancing and if going to Kyoto can broaden his love, he’d do whatever it takes.

Machida’s speaking to Johnny-san about Kyoto and as Ohno waits - unconsciously - his world of colours overcomes him.

There’s an audition going on again. During his time in Johnny’s, he’s only watched three auditions so far. All he remembers about those were how grey they were.

Ohno has a feeling that this is probably going to be the last audition he can witness and somehow feels this is going to be a little different. And when he sees a light green, bright amongst all the grey, he doesn’t doubt his instinct anymore. Ohno’s shocked in a little while.

“President…” Ohno interrupts the conversation between Machida and Johnny-san.

The president of the company just stares blankly at Ohno, used to him interrupting his conversations.

“That boy,” Ohno’s says and points at the boy, “Is he entering the company?”

“Aiba Masaki,” Johnny-san bluntly states. He crosses his arms and says, “It seems that he saw SMAP playing basketball on TV and thought that he could play alongside them by joining this company.” He sighs before he continues, “For heaven’s sake, we’re an idol agency not a basketball agency.”

Ohno just silently nods.

“He has some good moves though,”

A smile creeps up Ohno’s face. Never-ending energy.

5.

“10 years ago… I would have never thought that I would be standing here right now,” Ohno bites his lips hard as he tries hard to stop the tears from falling.

All of a sudden, amidst all the screams and music around him, Ohno sees himself 10 years ago.

I give up. I’ve danced enough. The boy facing right back at him was a spit image of Ohno. With the exception of just a little detail.

The boy staring back at him looked fed-up, tired and wants out from everything.

If Ohno were to think back now, he’d say he was being stupid. Maybe it wasn’t ‘I’ve danced enough’ but ‘I’ve had enough of all this’ that made him wanted to quit the agency at that moment.

Kyoto had been one of the toughest times of his life. He had been homesick, cried and even had major breakdowns. But then…

“Ten years with Arashi…” he can’t help blurting out and fidgets with his red stage costume.

He couldn’t ask for anything more. Despite five of them had many tough times and very much wanted nothing but to run away, they had held onto each other and now there’s an unbreakable bond holding them tight. This was worth all his suffering in Kyoto.

Even though his voice cracks and a few tears fall, Ohno manages to finish his speech. As he walks back, two secure arms engulf him in a hug. Ohno holds Aiba tight and is thankful for the very presence of him here. Ohno thinks that it it weren’t for Aiba, he wouldn’t be here right now.

6.

Ohno’s going to quit.

He’s decided since he’s back from Kyoto and is now heading towards the President’s office.

A boy a little taller than Ohno suddenly comes running out of nowhere and before he was able to smash on the brakes, he bumps right into Ohno.

Two bodies lay sprawled across the floor.

“Ouch….” Ohno hears an unusual voice say. “Are you alright?” the boy appears in front of Ohno and immediately helps him up.

The taller boy bows and says, “I’m sorry.”

Ohno doesn’t reply and their eyes meet for a moment. Ohno knows he’s met this boy before, he just couldn’t put where and when.

“Ohno Satoshi?!” the boy exclaims unexpectedly and grabs Ohno’s hands from his sides and enthusiastically shakes them. “I saw you in Kyoto! You were really awesome there!!”

Ohno could only blink, dumbfounded by this boy’s sheer energy.

“Oh, sorry!” the boy scratches his head and smiles sheepishly. “I haven’t introduced myself, have I?”

Ohno shakes his head a little.

“I’m Aiba Masaki from Chiba,” Aiba says and abruptly stops when it seems like he noticed something. “I have to go, sorry!” As he rushes off in another direction, Aiba manages to turn a full 360 degree to face Ohno while running backwards and loudly says, “It was nice meeting you! If you ever come to Chiba, drop by my parents’ Chinese restaurant! Bye!”

Ohno hears his voice down the hall shouting “Nino! Nino! Wait!!!” Then he hears a few sentences between the words ‘passport’, ‘debut’ and ‘Arashi’.

Aiba Masaki… Aiba… “Ah!!” Ohno utters. He was the boy two years ago. So, he did enter the agency. Ohno doesn’t know why he feels a little happy.

Snapping out of his trance, Ohno quickly heads to the President’s office.

“President…” Ohno starts. “I want to quit.”

“I know, I know,” Johnny-san sighs and stands up. “By the way, Ohno, do you have a passport?”

“I do.”

“Do you want to go to Hawaii?”

Ohno doesn’t get where this is heading but says, “I guess…”

“Then, come help out with some recording. It’s a song named ‘A-RA-SHI’.”

7.

Aiba’s actually the first person to respect Ohno as much as he does. He’s the first one who started calling Ohno ‘Leader’ and since then, rarely calls him by his name.

Ohno’s ignorant about all this. He was pushed into a debut with four unknown people into a
group named ‘Arashi’. He never wished for it, he never wanted it. All the while, all he wanted
was to escape from this madness. Or so he thought.

But, Ohno kind of likes it when Aiba tells him how good at dancing or singing he is over and over again. And Ohno doesn’t believe that Aiba is the type to lie to get his way. Aiba makes Ohno feel appreciated.

Ohno’s for once intrigued by the younger boy and actually thinks Aiba is a genius despite how Nino always assured Ohno that Aiba was a ‘pure idiot’. Aiba was the first one who loved Arashi, who loved being in Arashi.

Maybe what Nino said was right; maybe Aiba was a ‘pure idiot’. Because he talks without thinking beforehand and is clumsy and noisy. But Aiba is also such a pure boy that no matter how many stupid things he does or how many nonsensical words he says, Ohno just can’t help but laugh and really have genuinely have fun with Aiba around.

While Ohno had thought that all he’s thinking of is running away, he never does realize Aiba’s pulling him into a world of chances, opportunities and plain fun.

And when Aiba defines fun, it means things that Ohno had thought were things that idols just don’t do. Things like joining Aiba with his out-of-the-world experiments, putting stockings over their heads and cutting holes in their T-shirts to show their nipples on national television. But hey, it’s actually pretty fun.

2 years pass, 5 years, 8 years and 10 years eventually pass, Ohno’s still in Arashi.

He’s glad to be.

A/N: Idk what to think of this xD I don't have much confidence in this one-shot and gah, it turned out real wrong T_T Comments are really appreciated though xDDDD
