Newbie question...

On the day of a CD or magazine's official release date, are the items available for purchase in-store, even in countries outside of Japan?

And yes, it is because I very much want today's TV Life, TV Pia, RE Your Eyes and Ohno's An-An (even though that one is not today.. or is it?).

CDJapan's shipping costs are just too much, for ( Read more... )

It depends when their shipping is. I know the Kino in SF is pretty decent on getting them, but the one in SJ is slow. So it depends.

Ah okay, so it's store-specific? Maybe I will try calling the Kino's near me. But Ohno's An-An.. that's 20th I think so I just hope they'll be available then even though pre-orders are already sold out. :/

Thank you so much for the info! :)

You can actually call them and have them preorder the magazines you want and they'll try to get it for you. That's what my friend is doing for me for Ohno's AnAn.

OH!! *.* I might try that then! My stupid hesitation at not wanting to pay shipping (I actually had the Ohno An-An in my cart last night) made me deliberate for at least half an hour, and by that time, it was no longer available. o.O Thank you so much! <3

Usually the Kino's have them AIRMAIL within a weekish? But the price is reflective of the shipping, so you're almost paying what you would to order it with CDJapan. Also, for specific magazines you might need to 'preorder' them with the store so they actually get it in. I know you can set up subscriptions with specific magazines there.

If you wait until it comes to the store by regular shipment, the price is reflective of the original Yen price without the extra shipping, but it's usually at least a monthish late?

Ohh, thank you! I think everything I've purchased from Kino's has the extra shipping cost attached even if it's not something recent. One of the photobooks from 2009 that I bought "new," is scuffed up a bit on the outside, but still massively marked up. However, I still caved and bought... u.u

I've only purchased one magazine so far, which was the last H with Arashi on the cover, which was just shy of $20. I think that was reflective of the extra shipping? They still have copies of this magazine in-store, and though it's now been in store well over a month, it's still the same price.

I will try to give them a call to see what my options are. I do want the TV Life and TV Pia, but not if I'm paying triple or more the magazines cost to get them to me. :P

As it is, I already paid the price of the LE YE in shipping to get that one to me. x.X

Fans in Japan are so lucky...

It really depends on the store for what I know. I go to two shops in London. They are one next to the other. One gets the magazines right when they are released in Japan, the other one gets them with delay...

Have you considered Yesasia? I mean if you get some of the stuff together (if available there= you get the free shipping... I am pretty sure they should have Your Eyes RE in stock...

They do have the YE RE, but none of the magazines.. :( And the YE RE is not a must. I would only get if the other items are available, whether online or in-store.

They do have the Nino Minimum 2 and 3 though, lol.

Ah, crap, too many things I want to buy and not enough time or money.

Oh and congrats on winning that bid for that calendar!! SO LUCKY!!!!!! You must have been ecstatic!! (I'm sorry my comment responses are super delayed for some entries. >.<)

Sorry I can't help you with this :( Just want to say that I'm in the same situation too. I don't want to pay for the expensive shipping fees from CDJ but I have no choice since there's no Kino in the place I live T____T
Nino is so pretty in the magazine this week ne, the TV Life and TV Pia ones. I can't help but ordered the TV Life already so now I'm totally broke :(
