I fancied buying a box of mince pies the other day, but they have gone up by 10p in one month.

10p! I don't recall such shenanigans occurring in previous years. Not going to mention the B-word.

I had no mince pies.

Fun fact regarding mince pies: When I came over to Old Blighty, I assumed that mince pies would be savoury ... it should've dawned on me at this point that things are going to be very weird indeed on this there island :-)

They were savoury once! Maman is going to get 2 pheasants for me, the breasts will be cooked with sauce but the rest will go into mince pies - the same mince as in mince pies but with proper added meat!

I vaguely remember hearing about this strange transmutation of the humble mince pie. It would make more sense! I do love pheasant.
