And this is how fascism takes root and becomes normalised. Because a third of the population voted out, it therefore follows (in the mind of the government) that EVERYONE wants racist far-right policies. The People Have Spoken! And one third have now effectively spoken for two thirds who are expected to shut up.
I despair at what I see our (unelected, unmandated) government doing. I despair that any criticism is met with "WE WON YOU LOST!" from to many vocal trolls.
Really? And when our pensions have gone, the NHS has closed down, food and fuel prices have risen (already happening) will they still be screeching "WE WON YOU LOST!"
For fucks sake, May's recently introduced Snoopers Charter allows the Food Standards Agency free rein to rummage through all my internet activity. This is unique to the UK, (excepting Iran and North Korea ( ... )

To continue (at the risk of invoking Godwin's Law)... I recall as a child asking... "but why did people vote for Hitler?"

Now I am seeing the process in action, a delight in fascism gaining momentum, with the UK leading the way. I am ashamed of my own country, and remember vividly the Serbian war and what happened only recently when people start demonising and scapegoating the other.

I am terrified that I'll be forced out of my own country.
And I am terrified that I might be forced to stay in my own country.
