Wii remote cursor not showing up

Basicly what the subject says...the wii remote cursor is not showing up. I use a recharging system and I'm making sure it's fully charged, the sensor bar is set where it should be, and everything else is working fine. It recognizes when I press buttons on the wii remote (the + and - flips goes to the next page on the channels screen, and the home

I found this a while back:

Try looking at the Sensor Bar (when the Wii console is powered on) with a digital or mobile phone camera, as if you do not see any lights on either end, that could be the problem and would mean that your sensor bar is defective in some way.:)

Also from the same forum someone mentioned that the 'hand' showed up when they lit two candles to mimic the sensor bad. If that works for you it's a faulty sensor bar issue.

candles worked! who knew
i don't even have any of those little tea lights that i saw used in the youtube videos...one candle in a jar and one pillar candle. it works!!
