RIP

DON S. DAVIS

We're a little late, but for those of you that hadn't heard Don S. Davis, the man who played General Hammond in SG-1, passed away a few weeks ago. This is a memorial post in his honour. Please feel free to discuss what the character or actor meant to you.

I adored Hammond of Texas. He was the stern but lovable father to them all, even his wayward 'son', Jack. I liked his since of humor and his sense of honor. He will be missed.

He was one of the best characters in SG-1. It took me a long time to get used to the next commander when he retired from the series. Hammond was always there for his subordinates, and he did what had to be done to keep them safe, while at the same time taking care of his duty.

May Don S. Davis rest in peace.

When I met him in Chicago in 2005, I was amazed by him! He was wonderful and I feel very privileged to have met him.

RIP Don S. Davis! We'll miss you!

I cried when I learned he died a few weeks ago. Going through the older seasons it's hard to even imagine Stargate with General Hammond.

He'll be missed!

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this post was the first time Master Bra'Tac met "Hammond of Texas." He ran his hand over his head to indicate that was how he knew who Hammond was.

I wonder if the series will have any reference to Hammond passing or if we can just imagine that George is enjoying his retirement somewhere.
