Don't you hate how family sticks their nose in!?!? Focus on what's important, lovey, which is your kids and your friends, the ones who will stand by you no matter what and don't judge you. No law I know of says you can't have best friends after high school, and if your grandmother thinks it's a problem, then she is the one who needs to do some rethinking, not you.

No-one has the right to tell you who you can be friends with or at what point in your life you should make them.
So give the interfering bat a whacking great slap from me, tell her to fucking make some good friends of her own because she obvously doesn't understand what it's like to hve a friend like that... and isn't likely to if she insists on controlling others actions.
Do NOT let her get you down..... Christmas is about famiy and that adage about not choosing your family is the biggest load of bollocks I ever heard... of course you pick your family and if Loki is a part of yours then tell Granny to go fuck herself.
I mean no disrespect to Grandmothers, I love mine to death but if I ever happen to come across yours I'll send her away with a goddamn flea in her ear!

wow! i think you're more mad at my grandmother than i am. and it's not even really that i'm mad at her. she really is a wonderful woman who has gone above and beyond the call of 'familial duty' to help me in the last few months. but this was really only our 2nd or 3rd confrontation since i moved in with her & it didn't help much that i happened to be sick at the time. it's just an issue that i've dealt with on several occasions before & i just can't fathom why anybody feels that it's their business. the part that really tore into me was when she said, "so the only thing the two of you have in common is movies, music & LOTR?" hell, no! that's just the tip of the iceberg, but since when is it in my job description to explain the intricacies and depths of *any* of my relationships. nobody raises any eyebrows when a co-worker calls me at home & does anyone honestly care that i feel closer to my sister now than i have, well, practically ever (thanks to our recent online communications). no. is there not allowed to be someone in between
