A man named Uesugi Kenshin had inquired about someone with cooking skills and I offered to do so for him. However, my skills lay more within, well, Western standards and I offered to learn Japanese.
As promised, I do have a bit of an update. I spoke with someone who happened to be out after the imposed curfew. It seems that they were attacked by shadows, then woke up the next day, soaking wet. They don't recall what happened between being attacked and waking up, unfortunately.
So as it stands, the "threat" is... well, shadows that mob you and memory loss about what happens between being caught by them and waking up. After a quick check of the network, I saw another had sent a text message with pretty much the same information. Sadly, that's all there seems to be for the time being. Should anything new develop and I find out, I'll let you know.
Thank you very much for the information Norway-san.
Shadows that attack you at night in the streets ... Although they might not remember, ,something could have happened. It would be for the best if nations like us don't get involved.
Think nothing of it. Should I find out further information, I'll let you know as well.
But yes. You are right. While it seems that nothing happens between being attacked and waking up, one can never be too sure as waking wet is a bit suspicious. The lack of any physical marks doesn't mean a thing.

Japan? H- hey. Sorry to be bothering you like this but I was wondering if you wanted to join me? I- it's snowed and I thought maybe we could enjoy a walk outside or something. [Rambleramble. Don't mind him.] A- anyway, I hope you're doing okay. I haven't seen you in a bit so I was starting to get a bit worried...
IC | I'll accept all the spams from younippon_ga_yoSeptember 20 2011, 20:07:34 UTC
Ah. I'm sorry. There were some ... circumstance recently. I didn't want to look unrepresentable. But I'm fine. Thank you. *and there is a trace of gratefulness.*
I'll be happy to take a walk with you Canada-san. Is it okay if I bring along a friend? He won't be a bother.
*And hey, is that a Pokemon we spy in the corner?*
IC | hurrah! I'll make it routine~ /shifty.vimyridgeSeptember 20 2011, 20:22:11 UTC
It's perfectly understandable. I've been sort of keeping to myself lately and all, anyway. [But anyway, he was certainly happy to hear that Japan was doing okay.]
It's perfectly okay. I'll bring Kuma along. [Of course Japan would have a pokemon. Canada would have been surprised if he didn't. In fact, Kuma would love a new friend to play with, too.]

... Thank you, for being understanding.
*And Japan nods his head gratefully, his mood very pleasant now. His Pokemon seems to have caught on with the idea too. And wagging its tail excitedly.* Where would you like to meet Canada-san?
IC | still monopolising this thing.vimyridgeNovember 13 2011, 02:57:53 UTC
[Hello Japan. Guess who's leaving a message. Again. As usual. He probably owns your voicemail by now.] Hi Japan. Now that things are back to normal... well, as normal as things can be around here, I figured maybe we could go check out the island and look around it a bit? Or something?
IC | Canada is always planning. And then gets sidetracked;;vimyridgeNovember 14 2011, 01:54:40 UTC
[Don't worry. He will. In fact, he's going to move right on in and claim it as his own. Or something. Japan's voicemail is now Canadian.]
Well... I wasn't planning on a picnic and sunbathing, but I also wasn't planning on doing something quite that in-depth. I also probably wouldn't be best at doing something like that and would only get in the way.

It would be my pleasure. We can start with simple home-cooked meals first, I'm sure he's not looking for anything grand either.

However, it doesn't look like we don't have much choice but to wait until it is over. Hopefully, nothing too dangerous will happen.

I was thinking about going to the island myself. I would love to go with you ... ah, but I will be surveying it for research purposes on the side.
Would that be okay?

I say surveying, but I will be just talking few pictures of the landscape and buildings if there is any.
*Since he hasn't gone up there already.*
