[ooc] Something I'd like to draw attention to...
I seem to be doing quite a few OOC posts, so forgive me for it! I suppose I could do this as Japan (as it would pertain to him rather well) but I'd like this to be a serious reminder.
Please keep The Olive Branch Project in mind while choosing your icons and layouts!
As a fan/friend of a few western artists who have been active in the Japanese fandom, (and an aspiring doujinka who would one day like to sell stuff at comiket), this is a matter that has been largely making an impact on the way they have been perceived. The matter is largely ignored by a lot of the western fandom, and indeed I myself never usually say anything on the subject.
Additionally, when looking for fanart to use, please look out for links to The Online Fanarts Protection site, which states Japanese fanartists desire for you not to use their work without permission.
I have nothing against any of you, (In fact, I absolutely adore all of you, definitely!) and I am not asking you to take anything down. I do not judge you, either, as your RPing is not dependent on icon use or any graphic you have in your journal. I'd just like to spread awareness of the movement, as it's started to take hold in the Hetalia fandom. Everyone has been wonderfully understanding so far, and I don't think this step could possibly be taken anywhere else.
