Republicans want more tax cuts. Economists argue that the problem with tax cuts is that in recessions, they are mostly saved, not spent, and so have very little stimulative effect. Republicans acknowledged that and so argued to make them permanent - essentially the policy of the Bush administration.

Good thing we fixed the economy early this year!

Today in Westlake, protesters stood smiling on the corner holding up anti-bailout signs. "CALL YOUR CONGRESSWOMAN AND SAY NO BAILOUT."

2 stops south, the dour mood in the Columbia Center atrium was broken only by the incredulous reaction to the $700b size of the bailout.

I went back to my community group for our first regular week in a couple months. We've been meeting as part of the all-Wallingford group meet at Gas Works for several weeks but that was done 2 weeks ago.
