Good, er, luck with your blood test? I'm not quite sure what the proper benediction would be...
There's a difference I've found with religious fasting. If you're doing it for your belief, you're allowed to be all proud and defiant - each hunger pang is a badge of honor as you tell physical reality "Ha! I am better than you! - nothing can defeat my indomitable WILL!"
It is, in fact, the precise opposite of medical fasting, which is not something you are doing to yourself to prove some kind of point, but which some authority figure is enforcing on you. Rather than pride, it inspires surliness and self-pity. *stupid doctors grumble grumble grumble* On the other hand, it lasts for a much shorter period of time.
