No Wonder They're Better at Math Overseas

I'm a senior undergraduate math major and I'm currently studying things such as density of the reals in our real analysis class. Apparently, if you live in Japan, you study things like this in high school. Check out what I found on a math forum today ( Read more... )

And if your curious, the set {m + nr: m and n are integers} is dense in the reals PRECISELY when r is an irrational number. Otherwise it's a no go on the density front.

Of course there are math forums. What else are nerds supposed to do on a Friday night inbetween their Magic: The Gathering games and their D&D sessions?
