She nodded. "We are used to fixing or throwing away stuff if it's no longer functional. We give functions to people: friend, lover, and when they no longer function properly, we throw them away as well. Would all work fine, if only we could throw away the heart that liked them and that we break, or get broken in that process. We have no idea what to do with it, once it's damaged."
