moral and ethical, but it's not.
The American dream is financial.
Sad, but fairly accurate.
We think that we can codify right and wrong
and legislate morality and in passing a law,
make it absolute. That is why you can legally
buy enough alcohol to kill yourself and a bus load
of people but can't plant certain herbs in your
garden. The speed limit is 65, but you can drive
at 85 if you are willing and able to pay for the
"priviledge".
You can ponder a life away, but will never be able to
make sense out of something that was "kludged" together
by a bunch of old rich guys with special interests.
Life is not what we make it, it's what it is. We can only
change our small slice of it. That's the downside. The upside
is that if enough people do that, then "what it is" changes too.
Sleep is neither an idea nor an escape from ideas. It's the
"mail room" where we sort and process and make certain that
all of the envelopes get delivered to the right address.
