[Thailand is standing out, marching down random streets....singing as he does so.]

Oh, say can you see
By the dawns early light,
What so proudly we hailed,
At the twilight's last gleaming.

[And quite randomly, Thailand's words go from unaccented english, to something that sounds like it came from Google translate. Which they did.]

[Who cares if you messed up the lyrics, he's kind of touched. And actually feels bad he doesn't remember who this is.]

Hey...thanks.

[He turns to America, smiling softly.]

There is no reason to thank me, ana. [He shakes his head, and the soft smile grows brighter.] I am just...making sure they do not forget, ana. [They. Not just the people in Mayfield, but their oppressors too.]

[She runs into Thailand on the streets, and, yeah. That song stops her in her tracks. All she can do is stare at him, horrified.]

[He doesn't notice her at first, he's caught up in his own thoughts.]

Gave proof through the night, that our flag was still there...[We will not fall. No matter what you throw at us, we will remain strong.

He slows a bit, staring hard at the ground.] O'er ramparts we watched...perilous fight...[He stops completely, frowning. He'd messed up the words.]

That song-- why that song?! [not only does it bring back some PTSD-style memories, she's pretty sure it's going to get Thailand droned.]

It may be stupid, but I do not wish to sit by and do nothing.

Good luck. I suspect you'll need it.

[Ema watches him go through an entire rendition of the song. Some of the words are a bit off, but the sentiment stands. She decides in a rather snap judgment that she likes this guy.

And since this is obviously subversive and investigating subversion is her job, she approaches him. No one ever told her that she had to turn anyone in afterward.]

That's a pretty gutsy move, considering where we are.

[He smiles when he see's her, bowing in greeting.]

Gutsy...perhaps it is. But it is something I must do, ana. [Because he will not bow to their will. It would go against everything he believes.]

Take a stand, you mean?

It's probably un-Soviet to say this, but good for you.

That is correct. I am going to stand up for what I believe in, no matter what the consequence may be.
