I was at the South Rim about three weeks ago. A woman working in one of the shops said we shouldn't miss breakfast in the El Tovar dining room.

She was entirely right. I also would advise you not to miss it.

Might be an idea not to miss the Watchtower at Desert View, near the East entrance to the South Rim. We hadn't particularly been planning on dropping in, but we were very glad we did.

Apart from that . . . . well, all the stuff around the Grand Canyon village is great (we ran out of obscene expletives to describe the view fairly quickly) so I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Say hello to the Ravens from me, and (in case you don't know) there are condors around Vermillion Cliffs and the Canyon, so keep an eye on the sky. We didn't see any, but hopefully you'll be luckier.

Awesome, thanks, we'll check out both of those. There have ravens everywhere on this trip, usually taunting me by flying overhead into the sun so I can't get any photos. I'm sure they're doing it deliberately.

my hair, nails, and skin will have withered away with a few more days of this, I'm sure.

I did really well in the desert. All my pain went away, my hair was straight and dried in record time, and even my skin was less bad.
