Problem is the forum appears mostly to be populated by old salts who think it all started going down hill when they took away the SLR.

I wonder how they would react if they found out one of their recruits is there purely as a result of larping!

Bless 'em.

You mean 'bang bang hat' Hobbs? He's Airforce, not army (so he'd just get a ribbing for being a Crab), and he has the job I went for (allbeit 18 years ago) but was too blind for, so I failed the medical.

I'm a fan of arrse too. It's by turns, quite amusing & quite informative & yes it does appear to have a lot of "time served" contributors but it's no worse for that. I'm not particularly bothered if they take the piss out of us, as far as I can tell squaddies take the piss out of everything. I'd be much more concerned that we don't disrespect the guys who do it for real. I'd hate to be lumped with the berk who turned up at a local Remembrance Day parade in a uniform & medals he wasn't entitled to.

Sadly, they consider reneactors quite poorly as well; referring to the likes of War & Peace or Military Odyssee and their peers as 'Waltfests', and not with a hint of humour in their tone. Nope, these guys whilst amusing, are little more than arrogant grunts.
