TO ME! looseleafbook June 14 2011, 15:26:34 UTC
Well, Lavi went from wanting to stay away from everyone and managing to do that to... Having everyone converge on him as a meeting point in all this fog. He wasn't sure he was too thrilled with it but sometimes you did what you didn't want for the safety of everyone else. Even if that meant he had to suffer the company of two Tykis.

He glanced at the 'original' or at least the one he was familiar with at home, then glanced at Allen, and Karkat wasn't far off anymore. "What are we going to do about those I haven't made contact with?" That and Rhode had just given him her birthdate and wandered off.

Tyki glanced at Lavi, and then looked away, taking a cigarette out.

"Well, we'll just have to try to find them then." Of course, it was a lot more easier said that done, especially in a fog like this. He was worried that Rhode was still somewhere out there, but with the other Tyki somewhere, he hoped that the two of them would end up meeting.

Though, the idea of being around Allen and Lavi - both Exorcists, mind you - was not exactly Tyki's idea of fun.

Karkat emerged from the fog sweeping his sickle slowly out before him to part the fog and join the two of them. He caught the tail end of the conversation and picked up where he left off with Lavi. "A Sylladex is a device you store anything in it. ...most things. It converts it to data and back as you remove it from the Sylladex or replace it. You have as much space as you have cards in the index. Each retrieval system is different and some of them are down right retarded."

Like his last one. Let's...not talk about it. He looks into the distance from where he's standing and nods. "Anyway, what are we using let them know they're heading in the right direction? You can take a look at what's in the Sylladex if you need to."

"It's as good a start as any, I suppose," Allen pipes up from where he's standing juuuuust within visible range, far enough that everyone else's view of him will likely be slightly obscured. There's a considering pause as he quickly runs through their other options, and comes up mostly blank. "Lavi. I don't suppose the Wood Seal works?"

He doubts they'll still be standing here in the fog if it did, but no harm asking. Karkat's explanation doesn't make him so much as bat an eye; he's seen it in action before and has long resigned it to the growing list of things running on mechanics he will never understand.

Too many directions at once, oh boy, still he manages to keep all the conversations straight, to Tyki, "Go find them then." That would keep the Noah out of the rest of their hair as the others figured out how to get signs down in the ground in places people would find them.

"Sounds like a handy thing to have..." He wished they had one at home, this Sylladex. Supposed in a way that it was like the Ark with its endless rooms, there was bound to be a room with what you wanted in it and you could store many things.

Lavi rubs at his head, looking a bit sheepish, "Haven't tried it yet, but Tyki - the other one - said he couldn't break the clouds free either." Still it was worth a try and the Exorcist pulled the hammer out of its holster and activated it to its default fighting size, "A fire still might be best, between us we can probably hold off whatever Libitina sends our way."

Tyki listens to Karkat while looking at him curiously. It is his first time meeting someone like him, but now was not the time to ponder about that.

Instead, he just sighs and glances over at Lavi. "Fine, fine."

He's certainly not going to complain and summons a Tease, heading off.

Then tension in the Troll eased a little when he heard Allen and his gaze swept over him. Relief flickered in his yellow eyes before he looked away from his human ally. "It can be a pain in the nook if you don't know how to use it properly." He responded as he drew his out of his pocket to though his attention got diverted when Lavi converted his hammer. "If you're going to use a fire, better to dig a fire pit to keep it from painting a damn target on our asses ( ... )

"Tyki," comes the quick call from Allen before the Noah can make his way too far. "Remember to warn them you're coming. With the fog this thick, everyone's going to be on guard."

The last thing they need right now is anyone getting hurt by friendly fire. He nods at Lavi and Karkat next, acknowledging their points with a little smile that says And I'm glad you're both alright. It fades a little upon seeing Karkat's reaction to the staff ― specifically, the way he glanced at Allen before heading off, as though he's the only one who would recognise the significance of it all. And maybe he is, even if he doesn't know the full story behind it. He may offer to listen again later, just in case it would help Karkat to have someone else remember with him, but for now, he simply waits for the troll to return before murmuring a sober, "Thank you."

Then it's up to Lavi to take his shot at breaking the fog.

The longer he looked at Karkat the more Lavi was confused, it was obvious that he had the same gray skin as Tyki but... He was certain that he wasn't a Noah, so what did it make him? Mentally he shook his head, a question for another time, right now they had to make it through this little fun-time of Libitina's before he'd let himself ask more than was necessary.

Though he ends up blinking at the staff itself and its location in the ground, well, it's better than a fire in some ways. Allen's 'thank you' breaks his little train of thought and Lavi jerks, "Right. Wood Seal."

Long past the old days of yelling out the required seal, Lavi simply moves a ways from them - not wanting to strike them - and spins the hammer around, various seals up in a circle around him. When he swings the hammer down it's on the rarely used Wood and the equivalent of a small tornado kicks up, attempting to suck in all the fog.

The air around them all quivers and some of the fog does get sucked in. But as soon as Lavi lifts the hammer it whooshes out and ( ... )

Yet if Lavi got close enough to Karkat, he'd see his gray skin is harder than a human's, his fingers clawed, and teeth sharp like any predator's. What he was he wouldn't say unless asked...for reasons of frustratingly being the last. His guilt about it still stung his mind like a snake's bite.

The Troll freezes when he sees Lavi calling up symbols and tenses faintly, his eyes on them. It reminds him so strongly of home, he can almost taste the twist of energy in the air. He'd seen John use his powers as the Heir of Breath before, so when the tornado rises he never looks away from it despite his steps over to stand by Allen. His expression flickers to disappointment when the fails to do anything. He sighs and draws a dual headed trident from his Sylladex, his fingers pausing briefly over what looks like flecks of purple paint. He walks away deeper into the fog past the staff and drives it into the ground so the golden weapon can help point the way.

Beside Karkat (and yes, he has indeed noticed the troll moving closer, though he gives no outward response beyond taking a casual step closer to Karkat in return), Allen also sags slightly when the Wood Seal's effects fail to hold. It barely lasts for a second before he's shrugging it off with a light, "Oh well, I don't think any of us actually believed it would be that easy. Shall we see about that fire instead? I can dig us a fire pit, just tell me where's the best spot to do it."

He lifts and clenches his left fist to illustrate his point, though the significance may be kind of lost on Karkat. Speaking of, what is Karkat up...

...

Ah, landmarks.

"We can leave a trail of pebbles between each pointer―" Because that's what those things are meant to be, aren't they? "―to help guide people along, too."

"Shame rope wasn't strung everywhere to give us some idea of where to go, either. Or so we wouldn't walk off into a hole."

Lavi glances at Allen as he comes back over and nods, rubbing at his head. "Might be best if you two take care of that. I can put some rocks between them and lead some off of the pointers toward us."

Fire or not, he figured whatever Libitina put out would find them anyway.

"Better to use rocks instead of pebbles, they're easier to see." Karkat answers as he looks to the staff and trident. Because he's focused on his task his usual defeated air isn't present, just the old leader attitude. He nods at Lavi's response and opens his Sylladex again, looking through it and shutting it. "Let's get started. Faster we get this done, faster we can gather everyone." Even if they were idiots. Well, not all of them.

Allen's reply is a wryly teasing, "I reckon that would be making things too convenient for us, Lavi."

The horror.

"Frankly, I'm more worried about walking into things than falling down them. We should be fine as long as we keep a healthy distance away from the river bank."

He turns to Karkat, plainly expecting the troll to show him what needs to be done right even as he calls over his shoulder, "We'll leave the pointers to you, then. Give us a shout if you need help."

...Or if something happens. Allen doesn't much like the thought of any of them going back into the fog alone, Tyki included, but they do need to be as efficient as possible.

They had to get the idiots too, who else where they going to use as fodder for whatever came to get at them?

"There isn't anything to run into," Lavi laughed out as he moved off in search of the rocks. But he'd probably trip over them before he actually saw them, not that he minded too much.

And he knew that the other Tyki had an eye on their own little "dots" while he went off to get the others.

He likes your way of thinking Lavi though he'd rather everyone survive. A good leader makes sure even the nitwits aren't needing a revival kiss to wake their dream self as they would need to slap them so hard their dreamself falls off the respective planet they woke up on. "That we know of, with our fucking luck we might run into something. The graveyard wasn't the only haunted place in this crater of stupid shit throw at the whirling device was it?"

Karkat glanced at Allen, as he checked the area and tucked his sickles away to crouch down. "Allen, got anything to dig with?"
