[Static for a moment, clicking sounds like buttons once the feed's already been turned on. There's a soft rustle then before a voice, light, clear, and maybe familiar:] Hello? [Light pause.
Well, at worst he's just talking to himself.] Is there anyone else there? [Anyone who knows him would probably recognize his voice at least.
Before he shuts it off, though, there's a light (distant) sort of mutter, like it's caught accidentally. (Woops, used to other... well. It's awfully convenient to wake up a new place with some kind of device that seems like it's for communication-again-but... It's also kind of creepy.)] This doesn't look like anywhere in Atollo. [It looks more like... home.
Relatively speaking. Very, very relatively speaking. Just enough for a weird thrill for a moment that might it at least be Earth?
Well... more "real" maybe. (sadly?) At least it doesn't look like a place that has dragons yet. Even if the very surroundings sort of make his stomach knot in apprehension

[There is a long moment of staring before the feed flickers and it's moved to a private filter. Not that Rhode generally does private filters -- she doesn't generally bother, unless it's important, and nothing has been important since she arrived here -- but mostly because she knows he does.
She blinks. Headshakes. Not in a way that is unlike she's trying to make sure he isn't a hallucination. And once it seems she's cleared her vision, she blinks again.]
