I know Waterloo. The mainframe that used to compile my Pascal code back in high school is (or at least was) located somewhere on University of Waterloo's campus! We sent the code as batch jobs over modem from the IBM minicomputer at my school, and used actual DEC VT-100s for editing. The output came back and was printed out by a line printer.

While planning your travel, don't forget about the "enhanced" identification rules for border crossings now in effect. Passports or near-passports are pretty much required at this point.

I'm from Detroit, so I've already got the minimal Detroit Techno angle covered. Right now, I'm mainly interested to see what the local scene is cooking up there. I won't know what I'm in the mood for until when I'm there. I usually like to just be a bit free-form in these matters. Basically, I'm looking to branch out.
