Capacity issues
Lately, I've been reading of inabilities to manufacture sufficient quantities of a wide variety of assorted products. For example, the WHO is trying to figure out if they should instruct the makers of influenza vaccines to switch productoin to H1N1 Type A vaccines, or recommend staying the course and producing the usual seasonal influenza vaccines ( Read more... ) -

Banking Fail
Apparently, my tax returns and my rent debit crossed in my checking account in precisely the opposite way I had hoped for, both hit it today, but the returns somehow won't post until Monday, since their transaction occurred after 3pm. Now, through stupid bank policies, my account is officially overdrafted, even though it would have more than ( Read more... ) -
How a hacker diagnoses a power outage
Step 1: lights blink out, UPSes start to scream.
Step 2: Fire up Kismet, note that none of the APs in the neighborhood, except mine (currently on UPS) are functioning.
Step 3: Call power company to report outage. -

I'm beginning to suspect that my Icom IC-F3S is somehow not properly transmitting to repeaters in the area. Apparently, no one can hear me. -
The Daily Demoscene
