I don't think it's rubbing off.

I think the Apathy fairy has come to town and given all of us a little smack of it. Niveus can tell you from when he's spoken with me, we've pretty much been in that boat for a little bit.

If I was truly apathetic, I never would have reached the White House switchboard or the Army Corps Emergency Response Manager.

I just don't know what to do for myself. I am trying to drink more and read my book.

If anyone wants the switchboard number...just let me know.

It's not really a case of the "whatevers." It's more a case of the "what the hell now's?"
Whichever it is, it isn't a good place to be.

Unmake a hurricane... niveus_tigris September 27 2005, 17:52:10 UTC
The intent was to use multiple weapons, detonated in and around the eye at an altitude of approximately 5000 ft, to disrupt the normal updraft of moisture that fuels the storm bands of the hurricane. This has to be done well away from land for obvious reasons. The Fuel-Air Bomb (FAB) ordinance is the most potent non-nuke weapon that I know of, and has the added benefit of being able to superheat an enormous volume of air for the bang it makes. Looking at the satellite pictures, right at the time it hit Category 5 (shortly after clearing Florida) would have been the ideal opportunity to throw in the monkey wrench.

Instead, they just talked about it in Congress and said: "We've tried something like this before in the 60's with mixed results."

I'm betting they didn't use the kind of firepower I was thinking of.
