Like JE said, Claire is Claire, but I do see how the perceptions of other people can be upsetting when you aren't "something" enough, or maybe too much.

Hell, I'm going through it right now. For the past month everyone thought I was a lesbian because I'm tough and have short hair and don't wear makeup. I was too much of something, so people assumed something about me. It is frustrating, or even insulting depending on the inference made, when other people try to discern your identity and get it wrong.

Though I think the first priority should be on you being happy and comfortable, as in all things, bb.
