A night of social engagement and fun

Sep 27, 2010 00:09

On Saturday, the Nix, in his awesomeness, was invited to a fellow Madison dork and friends house..
it was his birthday party and was designated a 'Rock Band Party'..
So.. Zombie Nix and I got showered, dressed, and properly coiffed, well.. I did.. Zombie Nix just sort of sat there.. it's what he does.  I grabbed a bag of card games, just in case.. I like to be prepared and all..
but they weren't needed..

btw.. here is the birthday boy, Brian..
enjoying himself as he sings and attempts to not be distracted by two of the attendees..
anyway...

Zombie Nix said he wanted to drive..
against my better judgment, I let him..
and.. as we can see..
Zombie Nix was speeding!!
Bad Zombie Nix!!!

anyway..
we got there..
only a couple of minutes late (after stopping at wal-mart for a card.. but making up some lost time by following, at a good distance of course, a speeding cop car)

here we see a Paul-person..
Paul is sober btw.. he is naturally like that..

the Nix was convinced to play Rock Band with much nudging and prodding from the Jessica-person (on guitar to my left) and the Ally-person (seen below on drums)
however, it was soon discovered that I could not sing..
at least not while sober anyway

Ally-person, Jessica-person, me, and behind me Paul's wife
to help convince me to go..
the Ally and Jessica-people volunteered to help chip in on gas..
it sort of made me feel like a prostitute, but in the good way

still attempting to sing..
still failing at singing..

here is Sarah Jean-person, Paul-person, and Nibbler-dog..
dogs are good to have around as seen in every real zombie movie as they can sniff out those that are infected
luckily...
none of us had been bitten by a zombie.. so we were all o.k.

at this point I said..
'screw this singing stuff.. I'll do the drums'
I sort of left off the bit of me having absolutely no rhythm

is that the beat?
do I have the beat now?

nope!
Nix did not have the beat..
though the Paul-person did try to give me some hints on how to play..

the Jessica-person requested that I smile for a photo.. so I ditched my normal 'omg-it's-a-camera-stare-blankly' approach and tried to smile..

here is the Jessica-person again
she likes to smile a lot..
it was quite disconcerting..
especially since she is quite chestacular..

Sara Jean-person rocking out...

Sarah Jean-person and Ally-person doing a duet..
birthday-Brian can be seen in the back

eventually though..
the shindig wound down..
Paul and Wife and Niece (not shown.. cause.. well.. I never know the rules on that sort of thing and always feel wonky about that) had to leave to drop Niece person off at her home...
others had to go..
and.. birthday-Brian had to sleep.. cause.. like he said.. he was old..
and that's what old people do.. they sleep

(well.. technically.. they die, as stated in Old School, but they also sleep)

so.. before dashing away back to my hermetic cave of hermetudeliness..
the Ally-person and the Jessica-person wanted a pic..
and.. after being poked several times by the Jessica-person..
I even managed to smile

all in all..
it was a good night..
it was yet another reason why I love Madison and the geeks it contains..
good fun was had..
good food was nibbled on..
and hawties were ogled..
