He was not uninvited
Warnings: Rape hinted at, not described.
Word count: 116

When people speak of it,
They speak of strangers;
But he was not strange to me.
I brought him home; he was invited,
I welcomed him into this sanctuary
And there he violated it.

When people speak of it,
They speak of darkened alleyways
And empty parks, but
It was my home with lights turned low.
To an outsiders view
It must have looked intimate,
But the act was far from it.

When people speak of it,
They speak of bruises
And knives and violence,
But there were no marks,
No fingertip bruises to trace.
The blackening of my soul
Cannot be photographed,
A he said/she said that left me silent.

At first, he was invited.
