It used to be that I didn't go anywhere without a book. I went through books like Kleenex, devouring every page. Then, some point around when I started graduate school, I became "too busy" to read much. I was reading for class by my for-fun reading tapered off. There's probably a similar essay somewhere called "In the Land of the Indoor Human" about people who never do anything outdoorsy and lose touch with all things nature. It could almost be about me. As for you, I've always thought that part of your narrative includes not forgetting about the great wide world that sustains you.

You may not be reading or sketching as much, but you're always talking about nature stuff: birds, trees, mountains, hikes, snow, and how good you feel to be out playing in it all and how lousy you feel when you start to lose touch. I don't think you've lost your main narrative.
