Correction to the Desmond Dekker entry....
"The Israelites" wasn't the first reggae song on the U.S. charts, Millie Smalls' "My Boy Lollipop" was. (1964)
Here's some original footage of her singing it, but mixed in weirdly with other video clips of other singers, and a claymation lobster playing a harmonica:
