Probably off color pics to follow, but for right now, actual comparison between the US release of Drift-chan and the TF United released in Japan.
FIRST: the swords. Umm yeah. You know how you don't really dig the floppy sword in the US version? The Japanese one? Is even floppier. I KID YOU NOT. It's downright bendy! Not only is the Japanese version's Great Sword a bit, um...flaccid, but his two shorter blades, also, are made of a squooshier plastic.
Copter is disappoint.
Anyhoo.
Vehicle mode. We're in my kitchen and the lighting is VERY high key, but you can see the slightly whiter white and redder red on the Japanese version (on the left in all pics). The color difference is actually much more noticeable in life.
We're...cruising by the Taj Mahal. Yeah. Whatever. This is to settle the 'the kanji is different' question.
Just a shot to show you where you stow the Great Sword in vehicle mode. Someone I'd talked to didn't know this.
Here's the money shot, as it were. You see on the JP one, yellow touches on the cheek armor, on the chassis, and gold lighting around the Autobot symbols. Also, floppy sword is floppy. Yeah, seriously. That's IT.
And the backshot to show the sword stowed. JP Drift has it straight down. If you look at US Drift, you see how it's angled? The top bracket does shift out to allow that in both.
And just because this is just utilitarian and blah, have some pretty art. Artist is MRK on pixiv.
