So Spore finally came out (after the years of waiting since seeing the Early Demo presentation), and it is a lot of fun

You need certain types of weapon systems installed to be able to fight in space. I'm using the auto-targeting cannon, and that works well.

All I needed was a bunch ship of health upgrades to live long enough for the auto cannons and allied ships to do their thing.

Thats enough for me to get through the space combat and break atmosphere so I can one-shot a city with that gravitational weapon.

Alternatively I may be able to open communications, need to see if I can demand tribute or something. Not interested in me paying them to stop shooting at me. If I have to give them money I expect something in return, like goods or a starsystem.
