Naruto - AU - Drabble - SasuHina

Hinata gazed at the golden and red kimono dolls beyond the window display. Her long index finger tapped the glass panel as she waited, her face almost pressed to the glass. Workers inside the store scurried about in the process of taking down the Hinamatsuri display since it was March 3rd. The dolls reminded her of the ones that was displayed in her house when she was a child.

"You're going to be abducted if you continue to stare into space like that," she heard Sasuke say from behind her. She momentarily wondered when he arrived, then dismissed it since he always seemed to appear from the shadows. "Upset that you didn't get to go to the festivities for the Doll's festival?"

She pulled away from the window and shook her head while she made a disagreeing noise. She looked up at his shining coal-colored eyes and grinned ironically. "You know what's funny?" She softly asked him as she watched the people inside pack Empress and Emperor dolls for another year. "Hinamatsuri before Hanabi was born, my family forgot to put the dolls away until after the third."

"Well, if it's any consolation, Sakura's not due to marry for another five months," Sasuke commented as he clasped her hand in his.

Hinata smiled as she looked from the platinum band on her left ring finger to the gold one on Sasuke's. She leaned against the ebony haired man's shoulder as she informed him, "I heard that Naruto-kun finally proposed to Ino-chan too."

And that was it. If you don't know, the legend about Hinamatsuri is that if you don't put the dolls away before the third, your daughter will marry late.
