Who determines what path is right?

its predetermined in society today but when there is ever a question, its usually determined by some random person. my point of posting this is to say it is the only one that you will never get lost on, but it is also very common to get lost while trying to find it.
technically it should be determined by each individual, but so many of us have been morphed into what we think we should be and not what we should be, it wouldnt always be the right path if it went that way.
