Happy new year everyone.

The festive season came and went, birthday parties were thrown in (Bren's and mine).

A huge shout out to Wen, kopibren and Su-Lynn for sorting out my birthday dinner and drinks. I had a fantastic time and I think everyone else did too. Big hugs.

With all the festivities and parties, I think my body's partied out.

My litany of illnesses over the past month:
- gastric hyperacidity. My doctor says that this is the reason for the persistent nausea/fainting spells. I'm relieved it's finally been put down to something after all this time! At least I know I can manage it. It's been frustrating to be told "bad circulation" or "drink orange juice" (I blame the NHS conveyor belt).
- I lost my voice to laryngitis over the New Year but thanks to a little bag o'pills have found it again.
- I now have sinusitis, which gave me the most cracking headache ever. Everything I eat or drink tastes the same - bitter.

I'm going to stop drinking for a month to let my poor body recover fully from the ravages of alcohol and antibiotics.

Recount of 2006
It's been a full and interesting year for me. Ups and downs, some drama, some introspection, and all the rest of it.

Of note have been:
- the month-long hearing. The preparation for caused me to lose the will to live, but by the time it rolled around, I was really into it. Plus there was opportunity for retail therapy between the Hilton and the Four Seasons
- having the privilege of getting close to a group of ace girls. May we always support each other the way we have. I think we will.
- hanging with a crowd of good and solid people.
- being ill more times in one year than I've ever been.
- losing Melf to London
- getting emotional closure after 4 years of hoping against hope. This comes from finally seeing the light and understanding why I was deluded. Again, thank you girls.
- 3 fabulous dive trips: Dayang, Pulau Tenggul and Black Manta
- finally taking time off and visiting Ian in Shanghai, Mich and Chris in New York, Jo in Cali, Phuket with Sleaze, London to see Melf and Wen and Bangkok with Jos and Van.
- Jo getting engaged.
- Tracy getting married.
- 'Nelle moving back here.

I won't set out what I hope to achieve for 2007 because I haven't fully formulated it yet.

And what's a post without pictures.

Christmas party at Auntie Su-lynn and Uncle Pierre's
Dodgy vodka shots which ended in tears. Well not so much tears as merlions. Su-lynn is rightfully suspicious.

DJ Brenda spinning the tunes. Arguably, this pose is known at law as an "invitation to treat".

Trina treats. Brenda not so sure anymore.

Me with everyone's favourite boy. A star friend, a star cook, a star host, a star all round.

Sulynn and Pierre own another favourite boy. This object of furniture that we are all sitting on is called a Fat Boy.

The food was excellent. Everytime I looked, Su-lynn was eating.

Then the dancing started.

A Ghanaian man's house is his castle.

New Year's Eve at Wen's
Instead of counting down with throngs of people in a club, we rose above it all and watched the ships throw their flares at the stroke of midnight from Wen's parents' balcony.

There was alot of meat. When I got there, Wen and Babs were taking turns carving the ham. When they ran out of ham 3 hours later, they started on the bird.

Flares at midnight

SL on the balcony

What not to wear. David with his "bad taste" outfit. Would've been worse if he was allowed to wear his mismatching shoes in the house.

Wen and Babs disapprove as well.

Cute little Ruth tries to sneak a nap.

And in between
Went to see Rats perform. What a voice! I never knew.

Visited the newest addition to the Choy-Dzakpasu household.

Went to watch Brenda cable skiing. The start is the toughest part. This one's called "Fear".

She doesn't quite make it but at least she looks good doing it.

Went to visit the Swedish sailing ship docked alongside Harbourfront. Very pretty, smells like pine.
