Worst Mother of the Year Award goes to....

Oct 21, 2008 22:43

I fell asleep, on the couch, with the baby asleep on my tummy, and we both woke up when she fell to the hardwood laminate floor with a scream, narrowly missing concussing herself on the coffee table on the way down.

AGAIN.

PS. She's fine. I'm a wreck. Jason's questioning his decision to mingle his DNA with mine.

Maybe a pile of spare cushions on the floor and the table pushed farther away? If you go to all that trouble, you're pretty much certain to never have this happen again, right? :)

Sleep is for beds, sillies! Learning to breastfeed lying down was the Best Thing EvAr for me being a useful person.

As for the worst mom ever, Josh overturned a cup of hot tea on his head yesterday evening (left where he could get it by me, of course), and now has second-degree burns on his face. ON HIS FACE!! We got a quick (and screamy) ambulance ride to Royal Columbian, and got it looked at while Josh slept the sleep of the cried-to-the-limit. It looks all blistery and awful, and I'm keeping him doped up on tylenol and codeine (at night). Plus, whenever his face starts to dry up a little, I smear a polysporin-esque ointment on his poor blistery face, an experience he is entirely justified in hating. The doctor said that it would almost certainly heal quickly and well, but oh! poor boy.

It's like the first scratch on a new car. Someone has to do it.

I wonder if one of those over the shoulder slings would be conducive for breast feeding as well as keeping the little one in place.
