User: Hey AL, quick question. If I deleted a file by mistake, can I get it back?

Me: Was it a file on your hard drive or an email?

User: It was a file. In my My Documents folder.

Me: Did you look in the Recycle Bin?

User: Uuuuuh, no.

Me: Well just double-click the Recy...

User: Well I'm driving in my car right now.

Well I can sort of sympathise with the guy. I had to run some errands earlier this week and I was on the cellphone non-stop. It was about the only "catch up" time I had.

*BUZZZZEEERRRR* NO! You will NOT call me with computer problems from your CAR! YOU WILL NOT! Your problem will most certainly require that I walk your dumbass through something. Care to navigate Route 238 with a phone in one hand, a laptop in the other, and a beer between your legs while trying not to plow into a fucking ox? NO! YOU WILL NOT DRIVE AND DARE ASK FOR COMPUTER HELP, DAMN YOOOOUUUUUU!!!! Becuase you KNOW you will get home and have no idea what I said and will call me again. And we all know how much I was looking forward to hearing from you again.

*ahem*

Hey, dude. Long time. heh

So after all the MDKs I put in here, it took that particular comment to get you to add me, eh? LOL Thanks, but for reasons not even clear to me, I am keeping this place and my place seperate entities. Hope you understand.

Did you track his cellphone to the nearest tower, isolate the driver by his name/car make and then lay a spikestrip in the middle of the freeway? Because that's a good idea. End-user idiocy needs to be stopped. Someone should start some sort of official group against morons... or we should talk to someone who has friends in the Senate to pass a law that states that anyone who wants a computer must go through a lengthy application process.

That all sounds good, but my will to crush the end-user was crushed by a corporate merger and the elimination of my position. Until I regain my former place in the world as Computer God, I could care less what those humps do with their electronic thingies with the buttons all over them.

Har har. And the best part is: This post is almost a year old.

Wowie. Didn't notice until post-post.

Bush is one of those "humps" with his statement during the Presidential Debates: "There are rumours on the... uhh... the inner nets!".
