So frequently I'll come across a word in conversation or in reading, and I'll wonder how it got to be the way it is. Usually I will remember it, and look it up later. Today I was thinking about "raise" and "raze" and the fact that they are homonyms with contradictory meanings... and my brain tickled. I remembered that, some time ago, probably years
