While it's not the point he was trying to make, he is correct in implying that it's easier to have strict morals when you're desperately afraid of punishment by a higher power

I was just thinking about how willing our society is as a whole to have things shoved down their throat. It might be nice to see people accepting the bible / torah / qur'an instead of the tabloids. I don't even know, I wasn't necessarily trying to make a point necessarily, it just got me to thinking. houha.
By the way, hello Matt Pearlman! Long time no see. I'm sorry to hear about your computer. I just got a new one myself and in the 2nd day of owning it the hard drive failed! Yay dell! I hope that you can hunt it down, maybe?
no chance. it's definitely gone forever. it's ok, i have myself to blame, it is sketch but luckily i do have a pretty nice desktop still up and running, so not all is lost. I'm mostly pissed about losing the school documents and pictures that I had accumulated.... everything else I pretty much have on here.
I've received the second half of this letter copied and pasted at the end of of many religious-propaganda type emails over the past 5 years. I was surprised to see it at the end of something that started out rather promisingly ( I very much liked what he said about Christmas and the stigma around that). I see the value in his argument, but the way it's presented comes off snarky, patronizing, and self-righteous. I also think that it's really oversimplifying to blame all of society's ills on a decline in religious morality. Besides, it seems to me that people are much more functional and healthier in a freer society than one dominated by imposed morality. I don't think that a return to the Victorian Era is really what America needs right now.
i don't know if he actually said those things? did he? um... cuz that's some straight up ignorance right there.
i wonder what percentage of atheists now were taught to believe in god as a child, by their parents, schools, etc. how many catholics are you gonna find in an aa meeting. no offense to catholics.
